### General Information

- **What is the notice number?**  CP148A
- **What government agency sends this notice? ** The Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
- **What is this notice about? ** The IRS changed your mailing address because they received an employment tax return or Form 8822-B, Change of Address or Responsible Party – Business, with an address different from what’s on their records. The IRS sends CPs 148 to both the employer’s former ([CP148B](https://www.dimercurioadvisors.com/learning-center/cp148b)) and new (CP148A) addresses to confirm the address change.
- **What should you do if you receive this notice?** 
    - If the address change is correct, you don’t need to do anything.
    - If the address change is not correct, please return the notice to the IRS with a completed Form 8822-B, Change of Address or Responsible Party - Business.

    - The IRS updates an address when they receive: 
          - Form 8822-B
          - An employment tax return with an address different from what's on their records.
